Abstract.
The spatial dynamics of ring dark solitary waves is studied numerically in order to determine the appropriate initial conditions for an effective control of their transverse velocity. We show that the evolution of the solitary-wave parameters radius, ring width and contrast can be controlled by increasing the ring radius, by an initial phase modulation of the background beam, and as a result of nonlinear interaction with a second dark formation.
